THE PLACE OF SELF-DISCOVERY….Jer. 1:5, Gal. 1: 15.
“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee,
and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations”.
“But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace”
A MOST IMPORTANT DUTY OF MAN ON THE EARTH IS SELF DISCOVERY! Man is created to be somebody; not just anybody and cannot function as everybody. It takes self discovery to be that somebody!
Without discovery, one may attempt doing everything appealing to ones emotional preferences and end in sheer meaninglessness. Thus, without discovery, vanity is the result of living! Self-discovery remains a major course in the institution of greatness! A life without discovery is unsafe, unsure and treads dangerously!
Man is wired to function in certain ways consistent with the divine agenda upon his life! He is not designed to function just like everyone but in a very unique way. He is here to carry out a mandate. His make-up mentally, socially and spiritually must conform to his eventual evolvement. The logic of this is that, what to be is eternally predetermined and is superior to what to do! Herein also is fulfillment. This is why imitation is limitation and discovery is the cure to mockery!
A cub lion may find itself among cats! They look alike but they are not the same ilk. The cub lion must discover itself to take full charge as the king of the jungle it was created to be. Until it discovers self, it cannot reign! Similarly, only those who truly discover themselves will take charge in the realm of life. Lack of discovery means living less! It will lead to pain and frustration in the ultimate!
John, the Baptist knew who he was and understood his role as the forerunner of Christ. Paul, the Apostle, discovered his life mission as the apostle of the Gentiles and so commanded undying impact in life. Master Jesus also came with a convincing understanding of who He was created to be; His mandate on the earth and His place in all eternity. Hence, they like all who discovered self and walked therein, were fully discharged!
How would you answer the questions; Who are you? What am I here to do? How am I to accomplish my assignment on the earth? Am I already poised for delivery of mandate? The answers you proffer to these posers determine your readiness or otherwise for the task of life!
Without discovery there can be no worthy delivery and discharge of life’s mandate. Make no mistakes about it! You may be affluent and command influence among men but are you in your calling? You need more than affluence and influence to be fulfilled!
Think on these!
What is a jewel of gold doing in a swine’s snout?
Why will a king walk barefoot and a slave ride on horses?
How will a swallow fly and a bird wander about on foot? These are errors that must be redressed before they become mistakes to be regretted!
Know this! The positions you occupy do not confirm neither translate to discovery! A pastor may be doing another man’s business. An evangelist may be running another man’s race. An apostle may be tilling another man’s field. Everyone has need to sit up and discover true meaning for life!
Again understand this! Birds can only thrive in the sky. Fish shines in the sea. The lion reigns in the jungle. You have to locate your own personal place to flourish! This is true!
You may be the President of your Nation and yet not fulfill destiny. That may not be why you were created! What a colossal waste that is! You have need to locate and pursue your life mandate early, so you don’t waste your time and by implication your precious life!
Many will miss heaven because they miss out on their calling. Without discovery, destiny is slippery! You must discover your place in God’s grand agenda for all His own. There is a place to bloom as there is a place of gloom; a place of boom and a place of doom! Every place is not your place!
A banker may have his place on the pulpit.
A tailor may have a calling to building.
An architect may rather be designed to be a doctor.
Your feelings of joy, comfort and satisfaction or otherwise may not be proofs of discovery. You must work to know whether you are there or not. You shall get there in Jesus Name.
Why Discovery?
- It guarantees fulfillment…
- It disciplines you…
- It enhances focus…
- It brings you into divine commendation…
- It militates against wasted life…
- It is God’s expectation of you…
- Otherwise, you disappoint creation…
How to encounter Self Discovery.
God is your creator! Your discovery is your contribution to your creation! It is what combines to bring about your perfection! Prov. 20: 24
All trees in the forest are designed for specific roles. All the birds in the air have diverse assignment. The animals and fishes in the forests and waters have different functions; so are men! You have a root! God is that root! If you cut yourself away from Him, you will wither. You may not die physically and immediately but you will certainly be deployed for a wrong purpose! Hence, you must stay glued to Him. This is the only way to discover purpose and not end a waste! In John 15:5 “………..for without me you can do nothing” Christ says. It is already in you as packaged in there by the Almighty, creator of all! Your consistent relationship with Him will enhance your discovery of life and purpose.
